On September 14, 1994 a memorial service was held for one of the veterinary professions premiere leaders, Dr. Richard Talbot. Dr. Talbot died in the crash of USAir flight 427 in Pittsburgh on September 8. He was returning to the Virginia-Maryland Blacksburg campus after a two-day meeting of the AVMA Committee on Veterinary Medical Informatics
