Self-assesment of students in specialty „nurse` about their skills for dealing in emergencies outside study centres

Introduction: The nurse is a professional who should have competence, personality and speed needed for skilled and autonomous intervention in situations of emergency. This requires more in the learning process to be formed skills and habits to ensure emergency response.Objective: This study aims to investigate the self-assessment of students in specialty `Nurse` and their readiness to respond to emergencies outside clinical bases without the guidance of qualified medical personnel.Material and Methods: For the study were used sociological and statistical methods - direct anonymous questionnaire among 94 students of III and IV course specialty `Nurse` at the Medical University of Varna, Department of `Health Care` and affiliate Sliven. Students were interviewed in the period January - February 2016.Results: Only 13.83% of respondents answered that they were in a situation threatening a person`s life that required a quick response from their side. Of these, 50% have defined their actions as unsatisfactory. Adamant in his opinion are 91.49% of respondents that practical training in the emergency room is necessary for their professional formation.Conclusion: Due to the need, felt by students for learning to cope in an emergency, there is a need to be increased the level of knowledge and the formation of habits and skills that ensure their professional competence
