Children’s visual impairment is a significant barrier to their education, especially in low-income countries, due to the scarcity of specialized institutions for this purpose. We report the case of a 12-year-old girl found in a school for the blind in a town in central Côte d'Ivoire. She had stopped attending school two years earlier, due to an eye disease and was in her first year of learning braille in order to continue her education. This girl’s examination showed a distance visual acuity of 10/10 in her right eye. The visual acuity in the left eye was limited to light perception.
