This video is a 2-minute domestic scene in rural Nigeria played out in the vernacular, to provide insight into typical verbal abuse aimed at the pregnant wife. Domestic abuse is one of the risk factors for complications in pregnancy. The video is part of a wider project, Innovating for Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) which raises awareness of “upstream risk factors” contributing to pregnancy complications: heavy work; domestic violence; inadequate communication between spouses; and health danger signs.Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Research Partnership Progra
