LA INFLUENCIA DE LA OBRA DE MARSILIO DE PADUA EN LA ELECCION Y PROGRAMA IMPERIAL DE CARLOS V

This essay seeks to reveal how, in spite of the powerful obstacles placed in the way of its recognition and diffusion, the thought of Marsilius of Padua generated a set of highly defined theoretical elements relating to the origin, limits and function of the emperor, which were revalorised in the period in which the House of Austria attempted to shape the last form of effective imperial power in Europe. The work of Gattinara and the imperial environment of Charles V were such that the latter would reveal his dependence on Europe, and his distance from Hispanic traditions.El ensayo pretende mostrar cómo, a pesar de los poderosos obstáculos que se pusieron a su conocimiento y difusión, el pensamiento de Marsilio de Padua generó un conjunto de elementos teóricos muy definidos sobre origen, límites y función del emperador, que se revalorizaron en la época en que la casa de Austria intentó conformar la última forma de poder imperial efectivo en Europa. Tal fue la obra de Gattinara y el entorno imperial de Carlos V, que de esta forma mostraría su dependencia europea, al margen de las tradiciones hispanas
