El movimiento de Open Access contribuye a otorgar a la comunidad científica la hegemonía que le corresponde, al facilitar el uso de la literatura científica relevante y dar a los autores y a sus trabajos una nueva visibilidad mensurable, eliminando barreras y disminuyendo las inequidades en el acceso a información técnico-científica a través de Internet.
