Traumatic brain injury survivors' caregivers needs and the implication required during pandemic (Covid-19)

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivors need attention and dependence from their primary caregiver. Traumatic brain injury is a defect of different psychological and physical functions of the victim. Caregivers play an essential role in providing adequate care for the safe; this provides an additional need for care and time to adjust to new problems for them. They also may experience unmet needs over the care survivorship continuum at home. In particular, TBI caregivers can face specific challenges in assisting them in handling unexpected changes to their daily routines. This article explores how caregivers may respond to stressful and traumatic circumstances and provides care to their loved ones during the pandemic (Covid-19). The purpose of this study is to explore the needs of caregivers and their coping mechanisms towards stressful and traumatic circumstances and provides care to their loved ones during the pandemic (Covid-19). This qualitative study was conducted with ten caregivers of individuals suffering from traumatic brain injury. The caregivers were selected used theoretical sampling. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview guide, which has helped the caregivers in providing their responses. The qualitative data were analyzed by using NVIVO analysis software. Three significant themes emerged from the analysis: (a) Support needed, (b) the information need about care, and (c) developing self-resilience. Data shows that caregivers certainly need support from the various parties, and the participants are lack information on specific care for the severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors. Caregivers require approval and seek more useful information to provide excellent care to their loved ones. Being aware of the caregiver's needs will enable them to be better prepared and offer improved customized care
