The design of the experimental model of FB-MMC converter (Full H-bridge Cell, Modular Multilevel Converter) and its realization have been described in detail. The converter consists of series-connected FHB cells and several necessary units, such as a voltages and currents measuring unit, a power grid synchronization unit and a cell capacitors pre-charging unit. Functionality of FHB cells in a one-leg ten-cell connection and in a two-leg five-cell connection have been verified. Advanced control algorithms for single-phase load symmetrization are thought to be tested on this model
