Preparation of Chlamydomonas Chloroplasts for the <i>in Vitro</i> Import of Polypeptide Precursors

To study the import of polypeptide precursors we have adapted and compared two procedures for the isolation of competent chloroplasts from the green unicellular alga, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii: silicasol gradient centrifugation and elutriation.
