Background. Acute stroke is ranked as the second leading cause of death in the Republic of Moldova. 13% of patients are of working age and a third of them are socially active people. The incidence of stroke is 2,5-3,0 of 1000 per year. About 35% of patients die during the acute phase of the disease. Objective of the study. Research of the risk factors for unfavorable prognosis in patients with acute stroke. Material and Methods. Retrospective study based on 85 cases of death in patients with stroke.
