Bu çalışmada sucul canlılar için problem olan amonyumun ($NH_{4}^+$) sulu ortamdan bentonit ile uzaklaştırılması araştırıldı. Oda sıcaklığında yürütülen bu çalışmada, sulu çözeltiden farklı konsantrasyonlarda amonyum iyonlarının adsorpsiyonu incelenerek, adsorpsiyon verileri Langmuir ve Freundlich modellerine uygulandı. Buna ilaveten adsorpsiyonun deneysel sonuçları termodinamik denklemlere uygulanarak, adsorpsiyon işleminin serbest entalpi (?G°), entalpi (?H°) ve entropi (?S°) değerleri bulunarak, adsorpsiyonun istemli olup olmadığı ve sıcaklığın adsorpsiyon üzerine etkisi araştırıldı.
