1992 yılında S kümesi bölen kapalı iken GCD matrisinin LCM matrisini böldüğü ispatlanmıştır. 2002 yılında LCM matrisinin GCD matrisine bölünebilmesi için gcd kapalı olan n elemanlı S kümesi üzerine konacak gerek ve yeter şartların bulunmasına ilişkin bir açık problem ortaya atılmıştır.
