Description of Ruehmaphelenchus asiaticus sp. n. (Nematoda: Aphelenchoididae) and remarks on the genus Ruehmaphelenchus

Ruehmaphelenchus asiaticus sp. n. isolated from packaging wood (Sterculariaceae) imported from the Republic of Korea to China is described. It is characterized by its body length of 737 (571-817) μm and 778 (710-888) μm of males and females, respectively; robust body (a = 29 and 25 of males and females, respectively); stylet 14.0 and 15.5 μm long for males and females, respectively; lateral field with three lines; mean value of vulva position 81%; long postuterine branch; female tail straight, tapering, and having a terminal spike up to 10 μm long in a central position (c= 27); spicules 18-20 μm long having a ventral flange, a pointed rostrum and the apex elongate and extending the line of the dorsal limb; male tail bluntly convex-conoid in shape and with a short claw-like hyaline process; three pairs of ventro-sublateral papillae (one pair preanal, two pairs postanal) and a single preanal papilla present; and bursa absent. The new species is the second known species of the genus. It can be distinguished from R. martinii by the round medium bulb, the different shape of the male tail (vs lacking the spike-like process) and the different shape of spicules. The characters used for definition of the genus are discussed. Se distingue por tener una longitud corporal de 737 (571-817) μm y 778 (710-888) μm en los machos y las hembras, respectivamente; cuerpo robusto (a = 29 y 25 en machos y hembras, respectivamente); estilete de 14.0 y 15.5 μm en machos y hembras, respectivamente; campos laterales con tres líneas; promedio de la posición de la vulva 81%; rama postuterina larga; cola de la hembra recta, que adelgaza gradualmente, y que tiene una espina terminal de hasta 10 μm de longitud en posición central (c=27); espículas de 18-20 μm de longitud, con extensión ventral, rostro puntiagudo y ápice alargado que continúa la extensión dorsal; cola del macho convexa conoidea y provista de una proyección hialina en forma de garra; tres pares de papilas ventro-sublaterales (uno preanal y dos postanales) y una papila preanal impar; y bursa ausente. La nueva especie es la segunda que se describe perteneciente al género Ruehmaphelenchus. Se distingue de R. martinii por su bulbo medio redondeado, la forma de la cola del macho que es diferente (vs sin proyección en forma de garra), y en la forma también diferente de las espículas. Se discuten los rasgos que se utilizan para la definición del género. Y se dan a conocer los patrones ITS-RFLP y los resultados de la secuenciación de R. asiaticus sp. n
