Benghal dayflower (Commelina benghalensis L.), also known as tropical spiderwort, was first detected in South Carolina by the Clemson University Department of Plant Industry in 20131. Since that time, infestations have been documented in agronomic crops in South Carolina. Once established, this invasive weed reproduces prolifically which can result in a significant seed increases in the soil seedbank.
