Campañas secundarias durante la guerra civil incaica

When the Spaniards entered the Inca Empire in 1532, a civil war raged between the sons of the last Inca ruler Guayna Capac, Guascar and Atagualpa. This war is still insufficiently investigated. During the first phase of the conflict, both parties fought not only against each other, but undertook campaigns in the eastern and western slopes of the Andes in present-day Ecuador and northern Peru. This article investigates the objectives and courses of these military actions and raises the question why they appeared attractive and necessary within the structures of Inca politics and organization. These secondary theatres of war reveal something about the complexity of the dispute between Atagualpa and Guascar and also about the duration of the civil war.Cuando los españoles penetraron en el Imperio inca en 1532, hubo una guerra civil entre los dos hijos del último gobernante Inca Guayna Capac, Guascar y Atagualpa. La guerra todavía no está suficientemente investigada. En la primera fase de esta guerra ambas partes no sólo se pelearon entre sí sino llevaron a cabo varias campañas militares en las laderas orientales y occidentales de los Andes ecuatorianos y norperuanos. Este artículo analiza los objetivos y el curso de estas acciones militares y plantea la pregunta por qué se parecía atractivo y necesario dentro de las estructuras de la política y organización inca. Estos conflictos secundarios revelan informaciones sobre la complejidad de la disputa entre Atagualpa y Guascar y también sobre la duración de la guerra civil
