Tall structures have a particular affinity towards seismic lateral loads due to their shape and the slenderness of the building. The dominance of the lateral loads increases as the height of the structure increases. The lateral loads are so dominant that in some seismic areas these are the termed as loads of particular concern and the shape and the size of the structure is decided merely by these loads. To counter these loads the engineers have developed many different systems around the world some by experience and some by the use of analysis and design software that can predict the behaviour of the structure subjected to different loadings with a great amount of accuracy.
