Diabetic foot ulcers remain a major cause of morbidity. Lower Extremity ulcers are serious complications of DM which account for more than 60% of all non-traumatic lower leg amputations. 15% of Diabetic patients will develop foot ulcer during their life time. 6-40% of them may require an amputation. Significant progress has been accomplished in ulcer healing by improved management of both ischemia and neuropathy in the diabetic foot. Nevertheless, there is a vital need for further improvement.
