BACKGROUND: Elevated serum uric acid cause endothelial dysfunction, smooth muscle proliferation, platelet aggregation and reduce vasodilator activity which eventually leads to thrombus formation. So, in this study we are going to evaluate the role of uric acid in atherosclerosis of diabetes mellitus population. Other than conventional risk factors for atherosclerosis uric acid act as an add on factor for atherosclerosis. It accelerates the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis with other risk factors.
