This paper focuses on one certain type of traveller, the tourist/migrant, or the “working tourist “. The goal of the study is to unravel a small part of this movement, namely where are these individuals from and why do they choose to come to Iceland to work as horse riding guides. Why do they choose to leave their home-country behind and become a working tourist in Iceland? This study aims to explain and gain understanding about what it is that is so alluring with Iceland. This is a qualitative study based on interviews with ten individuals and through participant observation.
