This document describes guidelines for using time series analysis methods and tools for estimating the thermal performance of buildings and building components. This is integrated in a more comprehensive work. This first part is mainly dealing with physical aspects. A second part focused on statistical aspects has been also elaborated. Both documents must be considered as complementary. Minimum steps to carry out data analysis are reported and different alternative analysis approaches are outlined. This document is mainly focused on the most critical aspects particularly regarding energy performance assessment of buildings and building components.
