This paper sought to establish a first overview of the Freirean assumptions in the academic production of Science, Technology and Society (STS) education in Brazil, though the analysis of the main recurring keywords and theoretical references by researchers in the field.The thirteen articles analyzed in the survey were taken from the STS and Education Group database of CEFET / RJ, which gathers 244 articles on STS, from 1996 to 2016, in 31 journals. The selection criterion was to find in the title, abstract or keywords of the articles, terms related to Freirean pedagogy.
