In this chapter the principle and development of a thermodynamic database of molten salt reactor fuel systems is reported. The database has been developed at JRC-ITU within the last decade and the current dataset consists of 43 binary systems. The most relevant binary and ternary systems are shown in this study. The importance and application of the database is demonstrated on few typical examples, e.g. the optimization of a nuclear fuel composition of various molten salt reactor concepts with respect to its physico-chemical properties or on the prediction of fission product influence on the fuel properties.
