This WGAGFM[1] ToR was embarked on in 2007 pointing out that worldwide numerous studies have been carried out covering many aspects to fish and fisheries genetics. These studies have produced a great wealth of data with potential value for future applications (such as in fisheries management), but could also serve as a fundament for new research projects. However, after the conclusion of research projects, the dispersal of generated data leads to a high risk of data-loss and greatly impedes a more coherent approach to genetic fish and fisheries research. The WAGFM addressed this issue by proposing the development of a meta-database assembling and cataloguing existing data in the field of fish and shellfish genetics, and ensuring its accessi...
