This paper presents the preliminary findings of a recent study on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in initial teacher training in nine OECD countries. The study aimed to address questions related to the national and institutional frameworks and requirements in place, the extent and types of use of ICT in initial teacher training by student teachers and their trainers, as well as the latter¿s views on their preparation and confidence in using ICT in the classroom. The findings suggest that although student teachers and teacher trainers have generally good access to equipment and an adequate level of technical skills, they lack competencies in the pedagogical use of ICT.
