In this paper we discuss the potential of (very) high resolution satellite sensors for 3D data extraction, through a selection of projects carried out at the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry (IGP) at ETH Zurich. For data processing a set of algorithms has been developed by our group and realized in a software suite called SATellite image Precision Processing (SAT-PP). The accuracy and detail of the final 3D products depend on the geometric resolution of the input data and the characteristics of the matching and extraction technique used. All results of our projects show, that using SAT-PP and other in-house software subpixel accuracy is realistically achievable for georeferencing and for DSM generation we get an accuracy of one to fi...
