Knowledge is a power that changes human life. Throughout the history of human life, the development of human life began with the discovery and understanding of new knowledge by society. The history of education is open to be included in certain domains, and thus there is also room for discussion of its progress with the consequences of being accepted or rejected altogether. Progressivism began to develop in the early 20th century, especially in the United States. Progressivism was born as a renewal in education, especially as opposed to conventional policies inherited from the nineteenth century. Through the development with the quality improvement of progressisvism, the history of education in Indonesia can be divided into four developing periods, including the period of traditional education, Dutch education, Japanese education and the period of Indonesian education
