GAYA HIDUP MODERN DALAM PERPEKTIF KONTRUKSI SOSIAL MEDIA MASSA

ABSTRACTThe development of information technology has caused humans to have to keep up with this development. This is what underlies the formation of a new lifestyle, namely a modern lifestyle. Mass media is one of the technological developments that has a major contribution in changing people's behavior patterns. Mass media can change their lifestyle or local culture, by influencing (persuading) the way of thinking of certain groups or community circles to like or follow something that is new or foreign to them. This paper tries to review the modern lifestylewhich is constructed by the social media of the masses. This paper aims to determine that our current lifestyle is controlled by the mass media. The method used in this paper is the passive involved observation method and literature study. The results of this paper indicate that consciously or not, the social reality of society has been constructed by social media. Mass media construction is something that builds trust based on media claims. So that the mass mediacan build our opinion according to what the media wants. Currently, the development of communication technology has made the control of the communication system shift from message producers to media consumers, or it can be said that control of information is on the part of the media user or audience. Therefore, the development of communication technology has made the public capable of controlling messages. Therefore we as social media users must be smart in using or accessing social media. In this case media literacy plays a very important role. Media literacy can encourage skills in reading and transmitting information.
