THE GLOW DISCHARGE SOURCE IS NEARLY AN IDEAL ATOM RESERVOIR FOR SUCH MEASUREMENTS, HAVING VERY LOW BACKGROUND EMISSION AND EXCELLENT ATOMIZATION CHARACTERISTICS. A DETECTION LIMIT OF 1.8 AG OF LEAD WITHIN THE LASER BEAM WAS EASILY OBTAINED.
