OBJECTIVE: The objective of this selective EBM review is to determine whether or not mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is an effective treatment for adult patients with tinnitus. STUDY DESIGN: Systematic review of two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in 2012 and 2017 and one cohort study published in 2018. DATA SOURCES: Data sources for this review are articles published in peer-reviewed journals retrieved from PubMed and Cochrane Library. OUTCOMES MEASURED: The outcomes evaluated are tinnitus severity and tinnitus distress as determined by the Tinnitus Questionnaire (TQ) and overall negative affect as determined by the Tinnitus Psychological Impact Questionnaire (QIPA).
