INFLUÊNCIA DO SISTEMA LÍMBICO NA CRONIFICAÇÃO DA DOR MUSCULOESQUELÉTICA

Introduction: chronic pain is a recurrent condition in the world. Its aspects go far beyond the sensorial experience. Emotional factors, for example, have a great contribution in the painful amplification. Objective: To analyze the literature on the influence of the limbic system on the chronicity of musculoskeletal pain in adults. Methods: review of reviews, with studies published until June 2019, in the PubMed / Medline, EBSCO and VHL databases, the main keywords used were limbic system, chronic pain, musculoskeletal pain, emotions and adults. Revision studies were included in the study, without any language restrictions, which related the influence of the limbic system in the chronicity of pain. Results: the searches in the databases resulted in a total of 945 articles, after removing duplicate articles and with titles and abstracts that did not fit the theme, 16 studies remained, which were thoroughly evaluated. After exclusions due to limitations, a total of 3 articles remained, describing the main corticolimbic regions and their influence on the chronicity of pain. Conclusion: due to the findings presented in this study, it is possible to conclude that structural and functional changes in corticolimbic regions have a great influence on the chronicity of pain.Introdução: a dor crônica é uma condição recorrente no mundo. Seus aspectos vão muito além da experiência sensorial. Fatores emocionais, por exemplo, tem grande contribuição na amplificação dolorosa. Objetivo: analisar a literatura, sobre a influência do sistema límbico na cronificação da dor musculoesquelética em adultos. Métodos: revisão de revisões, com estudos publicados até junho de 2019, nas bases de dados PubMed/Medline, EBSCO e BVS, as principais palavras-chaves utilizadas foram sistema límbico, dor crônica, dor musculoesquelética, emoções e adultos. Foram incluídos no trabalho estudos de revisões, sem nenhuma restrição de idioma, que relacionaram a influência do sistema límbico na cronificação da dor. Resultados: as buscas nas bases de dados resultaram no total de 945 artigos, após a remoção de artigos duplicados e com títulos e resumos que não se adequavam ao tema, restaram 16 estudos, que foram avaliados minuciosamente. Após exclusões por limitações, restaram no total 3 artigos, que descreveram as principais regiões corticolímbicas e a sua influência na cronificação da dor. Conclusão: Em virtude dos achados apresentados nesse estudo, é possível concluir que mudanças estruturais e funcionais em regiões corticolímbicas, tem grande influência na cronicidade da dor
