In this paper more than 35 existing relationships for Koc estimations have been reviewed and divided into four categories. Among the listed approaches RP-HPLC-screening and the use of molecular connectivity indices seem to have the highest potential for an accurate Koc prediction. Other methods using the n-octagonal water partition coefficient or the chemical's water solubility showed a poorer degree of correlation or were limited to very specific groups of compounds.
