Qualitative data analysis has been criticised for a lack of credibility over recent years when vagueness has been afforded to the reporting of how findings are attained. In response, there has been a growing body of literature emphasising a need to detail methods of qualitative data analysis. This paper adds to this body of knowledge by presenting a reflexive narrative review of the development of a modified version of the ‘phenomenological hermeneutical method for interpreting interview texts’. This modification permits greater transparency when dealing with data that relates to multiple contexts. A visual model to represent this modified approach is also presented.
