Bending moment on a ship's structure is induced not only by the non-uniform distribution of weight and buoyancy, but also by the dynamic action of the ocean waves and the ship motions due to these waves. Both the naval and the merchant ship operating communities in Canada have been interested in developing a wave-induced load measurement capability. IMD has developed segmented model testing techniques to quantify wave load on a vessel using rigid body and hydroelastic body models. These techniques are described in this paper.NRC publication: Ye
