The Institute for Marine Dynamics (IMD) research effort is supported by vast state-of-the-art facilities. Models are tested in one or more of IMD's major tanks, including the 200 meter long Towing Tank, that is used for measurements of resistance and propulsion, wake surveys, flow visualization, seakeeping and other investigations. Various unique pieces of equipment enhance the capabilities of the Towing Tank, including the Yacht Dynamometer, the Marine Dynamic Test Facility and the Planar Motion Mechanism.NRC publication: Ye
