Laboratory-reared pink and chum salmon juveniles (2 g) received an intraperitoneal injection with a commercial, unadjuvanted Aeromonas salmonicida bacterin or sterile saline. Relative to elongation factor-1A, expression levels of genes encoding the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-1?-1 (IL-1?), tumour necrosis factor-?-1 (TNF?) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) in pools of kidney and liver were examined 6- and 24-h after injection.
