DESIGN OF SMART AGRICULTURE SENSOR BASED ON THE INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)

Agriculture plays the major role in the country economics. It is considered as the basis of life for the human species and it is the main source of food grains and other raw materials. The main factor for the success of the smart farming is the use of sensors for continuous and automatic measurement of different field values. In this system, soil moisture sensors are embedded in the soil which helps detects the moisture, the temperature and humidity sensor placed near to the soil and pH sensor used before the soil has been chosen based on the soil properties. Smart farming becomes an emerging concept, IoT sensors can provide information about their respective agricultural fields. In this paper, the design of smart agriculture sensor is proposed based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that will provide advantage for monitoring the soil condition. Monitoring of soil is very important due to the impact of climate change. The temperature and humidity sensor, soil moisture sensor and pH sensor can be interfaced to the microcontroller to assess data collected from the soil. The obtained results can be figured out using Thingspeak web server which shows to which extent the crop conditions have been functioning and the monitored data can be accessed directly through the Virtuino mobile apps.
