This research developed two wall-testing protocols for evaluating wall assemblies for the cold outdoor climates and indoor conditions typical of the Canadian arctic. The testing phase evaluated the hygrothermal performance of wall assemblies and provided input for hygrothermal simulations. The exterior test protocol is based on four parameters: temperature, wind, atmospheric moisture, and solar irradiance; and represents winter, spring, and summer. The interior protocol is based on data obtained from a survey of interior conditions of Canadian houses located in cold regions.
