The Meadowvale Solar Experiment in Mississauga, Ontario, was one of the first houses in Canada to use solar energy for space and service water heating. The solar heating system was designed to meet 60 to 70 per cent of the total space and service water heating demand of a single-family home under Canadian climatic conditions. Features of this solar heating system include a solar-assisted heat pump, semi- seasonal dual heat storage tanks, and off-peak electrical heating of storage water. This paper constitutes the final monitoring report on this project and describes the results obtained and the problems encountered over the full monitoring period.
