Fire experiments were designed for studying the characteristics of fires in rooms under different ventilation conditions. Parameters such as heat release rate, fuel total mass loss, temperature, airflow distribution, and fire duration were used to determine the effect of different ventilation schemes on fire dynamics. The fuel package consisted of a mock-up sofa made of polyurethane foam and two wood cribs placed under it to provide additional fuel load to sustain a fully-developed fire.
