The use of models in determining heat exchange and temperatures for completely buried structures and structures in contact with the ground surface has been illustrated by model tests for both kinds of problem. Model data for two buried insulated pipes in close proximity have been analysed in detail and a test on a model of a basementless building was compared with field results for the prototype.
