This paper presents a method of computing the deflections of simple "W" trusses and Howe trusses, the two most common configuration used in house construction. A comparison between the deflections obtained from actual tests on a number of these trusses with those obtained by calculation is also included to compare the accuracy of the proposed method over a range of roof slopes, spans, and joint connections.Peer reviewed: NoNRC publication: Ye
