Perennially Frozen Ground and Vegetation

This translation is the seventh arranged by the Permafrost Subcommittee of the Associate Committee on Soil and Snow Mechanics of the National Research Council of the Russian permafrost publication, "Principles of Geocryology". This translation of Chapter XII by A.P. Tyrtikov describes the various types of vegetation encountered in permafrost regions and the relationship of them to this environment. This is followed by a discussion of the effects of vegetation on the temperature regime of permafrost, and soil freezing and thawing.
