Dendroclimatologia da espécie arbórea Macrolobium acaciifolium (Fabaceae) em florestas de igapó na Amazônia central

Forest dynamics in the Amazonian floodplains is strongly triggered by the flood-pulse. Trees respond to the unfavorable growth conditions during the flooded period by a cambial dormancy resulting in the formation of annual growth rings. In this study by indexed tree-ring chronologies of the tree species Macrolobium acaciifolium were established and compared with hydrological and climatic factors from three different black-water floodplain forests (igapó) in Central Amazonia growing under nutrient-poor conditions (Amanã and Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserves – RDSA e RDSU, respectively, National Park Anavilhanas - PNA). For data sampling in the field 20 emergent trees with diameter at breast height (DBH) above 60 cm were chosen at each site. Diameter and inundation height of each tree was measured and a wood sample of the trunk was obtained by an increment borer. Wood samples were sanded and tree rings were identified by marginal parenchyma bands to determine tree age and mean diameter increment rates. By cross-dating techniques indexed tree-ring chronologies were constructed for the PNA (1752-2006) and RDSU (1758-2004) using ten trees at each site. For the RDSA it was not possible to develop a tree-ring chronology due to a low number of samples with congruent ring-width patterns. Maximum tree age at the three sites varied between 341 years at RDSA, 418 years at PNA and 443 years at the RDSU. Diameter increment rates did not significantly differ between the three studied sites. Ring-width indices were significantly correlated with the duration of the terrestrial phase calculated from nearby hydrological stations for the period 1973-2008. Signals from sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies were more evident in the tree-ring series at the RDSU compared to the PNA. El Niño signals were not detected in the tree-ring chronologies.A dinâmica das florestas alagáveis é fortemente influenciada pelo pulso anual de inundação. As árvores respondem as condições desfavoráveis de crescimento durante a fase de submersão através da dormência cambial, resultando na formação de anéis anuais. Neste estudo, foram estabelecidas e comparadas as relações entre índices de largura do anel da espécie Macrolobium acaciifolium com fatores hidrológicos e climáticos em três regiões de florestas alagáveis de igapó (água preta, pobre em nutrientes) na Amazônia Central (Reservas de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Amanã e Uatumã – RDSA e RDSU, respectivamente, Parque Nacional de Anavilhanas - PNA). Para a coleta de dados, foram escolhidas 20 árvores com diâmetros acima de 60 cm em cada sítio. De cada árvore foram medidos o diâmetro e a altura da inundação e um cilindro de madeira foi obtido com um trado. As amostras foram lixadas e os anéis de crescimento foram identificados através da formação de parênquima marginal para determinar a idade dos indivíduos e as taxas médias de incremento em diâmetro. Através da inter-datação foram construídas cronologias para o PNA e RDSU, para a RDSA não foi possível de incorporar suficientes indivíduos na cronologia. Nos três ambientes as idades máximas foram de 341 anos na RDSA, 418 anos em PNA e 443 anos na RDSU. As taxas anuais de incremento médio em diâmetro não apresentaram diferenças significativas. A cronologia foi construída para o PNA e a RDSU (n=10 árvores em cada sitio) no período de 1752 a 2006 e 1758-2004, respectivamente. O índice da largura do anel correlacionou-se significativamente com a fase terrestre nos dois sítios, que foi calculada usando dados da altura da água de 1973 a 2008 em estações hidrológicas próximas a cada área. O sinal de anomalias de temperatura superficiais do mar (TSMs) foi mais evidente na RDSU do que no PNA. Sinais de El Niño não foram observados nas cronologias desenvolvidas
