Open Textbooks: університетські бібліотеки і відкрита освіта

The current model of textbooks is recognized as unstable all over the world. One of the main reasons for this (against the background of higher tuition fees) is the high cost of textbooks, which creates problems for students, teachers, and libraries alike. This problem can be solved by university libraries that are developing digital library publishing (DLP) as a new service based on open access to knowledge. Creating high quality digital content that meets the requirements of institutions to support research, teaching and learning is an important task for libraries. Providing free textbooks (Open Textbooks) makes it possible to: 1) save money for students; 2) improve student information practices, especially for persons with disabilities; 3) save money for the libraries and support services for persons with disabilities; 4) promote high quality teaching and open resources for teachers; 5) obtain reputational benefits for the university
