Ciberespaço, memória e esquecimento

Memory is study object in several knowledge fields. In Information Science it is a synonym of preservation, considering that the main concern of this area is to preserve the humanities memory, and for this reason does not regard forgetfulness in its theory and practice. Due to Internet technology, the arising of the cyberspace as well as the virtuality of symbolic forms (or landlessness of signs), memory preservation, as it is understood, does not seem possible in this environment. In this sense, forgetfulness is discussed in three memory modes: spoken, written and digital, due to its relation to cyberspace, which highlights forgetfulness as a memory category
