Firstly, a presentation, based on the working guidelines and most outstanding authors in the research of History of Archives, History of Libraries, History of Museums and History of Documentation Centres, is carried out. Secondly, a methodological proposal is tackled, in order to investigate this particular aspect of Documentation which is the History of Documentary Institutions
