Políticas sobre el libre acceso a la producción científica y la respuesta de los autores

Free access to scientific information (or open access) refers to access via the Internet to the work derived from the scientific and academic activity free of barriers both economic and the consequences of copyright. The ways to achieve open access according to the Budapest Open Initiative, are the "green route" by the deposit of publications or other objects in digital repositories; and "golden route" for publication in specific Open Access journals. This paper analyses the policies on access to scientific works, generally financed by public funds, and the deposit or self-archive repositories, both institutional and thematic. The percentage of self-archiving in institutional repositories is low when there it is not mandatory, and usually does not exceed 15%, however when self-archiving is mandatory it reaches nearly a 100%. A good attitude of the authors and the understanding of the meaning of open access facilitate their participation, however, there are many misgivings and factors affecting it: fear of plagiarism, ignorance of how to make a deposit in a repository, or its reliability, among others. One way to attract such collaboration is offering added services linked to the repository.
