In this research, an attempt was made to develop an effective and efficient thermal elastic plastic finite element analysis (FEA) procedure based on ABAQUS code to predict welding residual stresses for 2.25Cr-1Mo steel pipes. In the developed FEA procedure, the influence of solid-state phase transformation on welding residual stress was taken into account. The Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolmogorov (JMAK) equation was used to track the austenite-bainite transformation, and a modified Koistinen-Marburger (K-M) relationship was employed to describe austenite-martensite change.
