The article develops the theme of the Late-Antique consulship in the epoch of Justinian I. Following questions are considered in it: specific features of the sources’ reports about Justinian’s consulates, choice of the Em-peror at time of his consulates, and his attitude to the consulship. In result of the research the conclusion was made about very weak interest by Justinian in extensive use of consulship in his policies
