This thesis explores the phenomenology of time according to Martin Heidegger by taking a hermeneutical detour through Saint Augustine‘s Confessions and Paul‘s Letters to the Thessalonians. In order to adequately discuss Heidegger‘s notion of time we first require a historical mediation, i.e., to go back to and interpret the time phenomenon by engaging in a hermeneutical analysis. Therefore, the method that Heidegger adopts (the hermeneutical situation) is the method that I adopt throughout.
